Hi,

I’m having some structural changes being done to my property so will be installing/updating my cctv system as follow.

I have purchased a new NVR and three new G3 cameras below from use-ip with the help from Dan and Co.

DS-7608NI-M2/8P 8-channel 8K NVR

3 x Hikvision DS-2CD2387G3-LI2UY 8MP Smart Hybrid Light to be installed at front of property - one at each corner and one on existing pole on the wall to cover the drive and footpath.

Re-locate existing 2 x Colorvu G2 4MP cameras to the rear of new extension.

Now, the big change to accessing my property from the front is that people will only be able to come through my big old electric gate (no small side gate anymore) due to the splitting of the property.

When the gate is open then it will not be an issue as people can come through the gate and knock/ring bell. However, when it is shut then the only way to access would be someone rings us then we open the gate for them.

Therefore, as I’m not familiar with the old type intercom systems, is there any basic Hikvision intercom/door bell system that I could install - I have read some very old posts where I could have a screen inside and have two door bells, one at the gate and one on the door, installed but not sure how it all works like connecting to my cctv NVR (got 8 pots ) or will need a switch etc.

This way if the gate is close they can simply call on the bell installed at the gate and if it’s open come in and ring door bell. The feature of remotely opening the gate when they ring the bell would also benefit but if not we can just open the gate using our current gate remotes.

Sorry for the long message but hope it makes sense.

Thanks

If you were to use a Hikvision IP Intercom, both the indoor unit (screen) and outdoor unit (station) are PoE but you need to connect them to your local network rather than the PoE ports of the NVR (as the ports are on their own subnet without internet access). So you will need them to a PoE switch or PoE injector that in turn connects to your existing network. The output on the outdoor unit can be connected to your gate controller so that you can open it when you receive a call either on the screen or via Hik-Connect on your mobile device. You don't have to use an indoor unit but without it you'll have no audible alert in the house.

Hi JB

Thanks and can you recommend any model kit.

Thanks

II've only used the kit (DS-KIS603-P(c)) that included the DS-KV6113WPE1(c) outdoor unit and DH-6320-WTE1. It's a neat little unit and you can use mifare cards and tags with it (easy to add via the web UI)

Hi JB

Many thanks for this. Can you buy additional door bell units as I’ll need one at the gate and one at the main door (can be used if the gate is already open).

Also, would I need to run any long Ethernet cable to connect the gate door bell to the indoor station etx.

Thanks

Yes you could add more outdoor stations that would be programmed to call the indoor station.

You don’t need to connect the outdoor station directly to the indoor station via cable. They just need to be on the same local network. So you’d need an Ethernet connection to each point. They can be powered locally using 12V DC but using PoE either from a switch or an injector is tidier.

Thanks JB makes sense.

I'll just need to plan out on how/where best to run these extra Ethernet cables for the door system.

Basically, my main kit (main internet supply/NVR etc) will be located in the back room from where I will run all cat 6 cables to all the cameras and I can install the POE switch there aswell.

For the door bell system (two door bells), I think, I would do the following unless you have some other ideas...

1. Install the indoor station monitor somewhere in the corridor between the back room and the front of the property somewhere near the main door and connect to POE switch in back room

2. Install one door bell to the door and connect to POE switch - this will be a long cat 6 cable going to the POE switch

3. Install the second door station to the gate on the drive way entry and get an electrician to try and wire it to the gate motor so that the gate can be opened/closed via the monitor/app. Also I would need to run quite a long cat 6 cable from the front gate on driveway to the POE switch in the back room and try and hide it as much as possible as the builders have not done any plaster board on hr ceilings yet.

Above is the best way I can think of doing it if I went for this kit which I think is suitable for me as I don't want to be spending lots of money on an intercom system.

Thanks for you help.
