Leaving house - reset factory settings for handover?

Hi team,

I've sold my house and I need create some instructions for the new owner to inherit this system. I have a 7608NI NVR with 4x cameras.

Our agent said we don't have to meet the new owners, and I'd prefer not to.

If I just completely reset the system, would the new owner be able to basically set it up as if they had bought it brand new? Do they need to create the password from the NVR GUI, or should I change it to a generic one so they can access and change it from there.

From memory there's some sort of 'pattern' you need to input to access the menus (similar to a ReCaptcha).

Do I do the factory reset before deleting my HikConnect account? I'll make sure to reformat the harddrive so it's clean.

Appreciate all and any advice.

Since the new house owners probably arent installers, i would put some new password, unbind device from my hik connect account and write down verification code for them

So i would present them with

Serial number
Verification codde
Admin password

Serial number + verification code so they can add to hik-connect
Admin password for system configurations if needed in future

Thanks for this.

So if I gave the new owners a new verification code, and admin password, they'll be able to set this up and own it?

Should I change all that first, then delete my account permanently?

I guess I just don't want to lock myself out and not being able to access it as if i'm the new user (the new owner)

Initially just change your admin password to something else (they can change it again later). Changing your admin password won't affect your existing access on Hik-Connect. On the day you move out:

  • go onto your Hik-Connect app home page
  • click the 3 dots to the right of your site name
  • click settings on the pop up window
  • at the bottom of the page click 'delete device'
That will unbind the system from your Hik-Connect account leaving it available for the new owner to add to theirs once created.

Thanks! I completely forgot to do this before my internet ticked over :( :( :(

Can I still change the admin password without being connected, and also unbind my account?

That’s fine. You can still delete the site (unbind) from your account exactly as I described above. The system doesn’t need to be online when you do it (your phone just needs to have an internet connection)

You can also change your admin password without being connected. If you get a message asking whether you want to also copy the new password to the connected cameras, be sure to do so (to avoid the cameras retaining your existing password)
