Trying to install newest ivms 4200, and getting this error - "Npf service installation failed".
And now even older versions don't want to install and gives this error. Anyone knows what could be the problem?
I just tried a fresh install of V3.11.0.5 and managed it with no problems.
As Phil says, make sure you've installed the latest Windows update and when you try to install iVMS-4200, do so with admin privileges (Right click>Run as administrator).
Yes tried fresh. iVMS-4200(V3.11.0.5_E). And also tried older versions.
Tried many times to install and uninstall. And tried with specific uninstallers to clean everything what is ivms4200, from system disk and from registry.
Tried with admin privileges.
Windows 10. OS build 19045.4355 , no more updates available.
Also tried sfc /scannow , and all sorts of DISM commands to repair system.
I'm thinking maybe this new version 3.11... and etc., upgraded older version (3.8...) not like it suppose to, and left something somewhere, or removed something somewhere what it was not suppose to.
Check low right on taskbar the nginx icon and Stop 4200 server if running, Uninstall both iVMS4200 and SADP, delete registry keys for npf(search for npf64.sys), reboot windows and re-install.
lf Wireshark is installed, uninstall before re-installing iVMS
Is the service running?
cmd.exe "Run as administrator" and then give command sc qc npf
You must see this: SERVICE_NAME: npf TYPE : 1 KERNEL_DRIVER
START_TYPE : 2 AUTO_START
ERROR_CONTROL : 1 NORMAL
BINARY_PATH_NAME : \??\C:\Program Files (x86)\iVMS-4200 Site\Drivers\npf64.sys
LOAD_ORDER_GROUP :
TAG : 0
DISPLAY_NAME : Sadp Driver (NPF)
DEPENDENCIES : SERVICE_START_NAME :
If service is running, then run command net stop npfand try to install IVMS
Then its a system issue. Possibly a Windows Update as you mentioned above
The most possible cause is your Antivirus, Windows Security or other, that detects npf.sys and related packets as malware. Check if your antivirus has blocked this. NPF service was used in the past as malware.
Try disabling Antivirus if possible before installation, or "Allow on device" if also possible.
There is an issue lately with Windows Security in Windows 10 OS, not performing action selected by user. Not Deleting, Quarantine, Block etc manually
Run msconfig (right click on Start-Run), go Services tab, check Hide all Microsoft Services, uncheck all remaining(non Microsoft) Services or allow only those that you believe that are necessary for your system operation, then open Task manager and disable all startup applications. Then reboot. Some things may not work properly but you can try find out what is "please close process first" means, by enabling one by one. The same service may have another name or to be a Malware
