Hi,
I have multiple DS-2CD2T87G2-L cameras plugged on a poe switch. One of my cameras went off some days ago.
I try to plug it with new utp cable but still doesn't work, I have try different ports on the switch with no success.
When I try to connect directly with power adapter the camera turns on normally (white lights turns on as it boots).
So any idea what maybe happening? Is there anything I can do that I didn't think about?
Thank you

Take a look in the RJ45 socket where the cable connects to; are the pins free of corrosion? A common issue when the connection is not correctly weatherproofed is that moisture damages the pins. It only takes a tiny amount to short the power pins and cause damage. If there's no visible damage the camera may be faulty. I have had one similar failure where the camera would work normally but only while connected to 12V DC and the camera was replaced by my supplier.

Hi... the utp socket pins has no corrosion on them. At least they look that they are in nearly perfect condition... so do you think is camera issue? I forgot to tell you that was operative for about 3 years. It's not a new camera that it may have manufacture failure.

That connection looks fine. Power it up using 12V and connect it to the network switch. You’ll possibly find that it works normally. There is (or used to be) a tiny voltage converter sealed inside the cable harness where the cable splits into network and 12V. Perhaps that failed. There’s not much you can do other than use it with a separate 12V DC supply if that works.

@JB1970 I'll give it a try and I will let you know.
Please check my answer to my other thread because I asked you something about the VPN you said.
Thank you in advance!!!

Dear @JB1970 probably that is the issue. I plug it directly to my router with a 12v adapter and it works fine. So I have to probably send it to someone to change this converter. Thank you very much for your help

Yeah it is sealed within the cable so a replacement cable harness would be needed. If it's under warranty, I imagine you'd just get a replacement camera.

No it’s not under warranty and also I haven’t replace the camera yet. I will send it to someone that can fix it. I suppose that can be fixed easily
