Problem with adding 3rd party cameras to Hikvision DS-7732NI-M4/24P

Hi. I have just spent the best part of yesterday trying to add 3rd party cameras to a new DS-7732NI-M4/24P without success and after reading threads on here I assume this must be to do with the v5 firmware this NVR has installed.

I run 2 cctv systems each with an NVR and 20 cameras attached via POE. They were originally Aspect NVRs and cameras but am slowly replacing the cameras with Hikvision ones and replaced one of the NVRs with a DS-7604NXI-K1/4P earlier this year. The NVR located the cameras that I added one by one using the manual function via Onvif.

I thought it would be pretty straightforward to set up the new NVR in the same way but cannot find the manual function on the configuration and it only seems to offer plug and play, which works fine with the 2 Hik cameras but will not connect the Aspect cameras. It can see the cameras but won't connect..

Could anyone offer advice regarding a different way I can link these cameras or methods they have used that have worked? There are options for RTSP and DHCP but not sure what this means of whether these should be enabled?

Any help would be greatly appreciated:) Thanks

You have to turn OFF the plug and play switch on the channels you’re going to use in order to add a manually configured camera.

In the Device Access menu at the bottom of the options on the left you’ll see the PoE configuration. In the list of cameras turn off plug and play where required. It’s not very intuitive but that’s how you do it….

Thank you. Yes I have all these slots as turned off, but still no connection

Once they’re turned off you can edit the channel from plug and play to manual and just key in the IP address, username and password (different screen further up but also in ‘Device access’

Thanks. Okay so this is the point I have got to but cannot go any further. I am inputting the IP addresses as they were listed from the previous NVR but these are not being recognised. I have no documentation from these cameras listing the details, other than what is listed on the NVR. I have tried to connect one of the cameras to our network via a poe switch, but that is only giving me the IP of the switch and not the camera.
Sorry I'm in a right pickle with it!

The first thing you'll need to do is to ensure that your IP addresses are correct and match your network. If they were Hikvision you would just run SADP tool and it would find them and allow you to alter the IP addresses to match your network environment. If they were already in the right range, any IP scanner tool would find them by their current IP address. Unfortunately until you can access them and alter the details to suit I wouldn't bother attempting to add them to an NVR.

If you have the existing IP addresses you should be able to power them up one at a time connected to a standalone PoE injector or PoE switch. Connect a laptop to that same switch and alter its IP address to be in the same range as the cameras current address. Then login, alter the camera IP address to suit the network it's going on, save and disconnect. Repeat for all cameras before connecting them to your network and attempting to add to the NVR.

Thank you for all the info. The system is at work and I have just got home so I will try this first thing in the morning. From memory I think there were pencil icons next to the IP addresses on the old nvr so I will check there too to see if they can be edited. Thanks again

Usually the pencil icon on the NVR is to tell the NVR what IP address the camera has so it can request the stream. Editing on the old NVR won't help, you need to login to the camera on its existing IP address before changing it to match the current network.
