I have been having a bit of trouble with one of my PTZ's, so I thought that the first thing to do was to make sure that it is running the latest firmware.

Now I thought, wrongly, that this was done via the NVR, not so.

I have had this system for 4 years and in all that time, I did not know that you could, and have too, address the camera directly though its IP Address.

If I type the IP address of the NVR in my browser I can login to it, but if I put the IP address in of any of my 4 cameras, I get an error message.

To be honest, I'm lost.

the IP address 192.168.254.5 is a separate lan on the nvr

check in your nvr if virtual host Is on, is in camera settings

if it’s on, then you can reach your cams via nvr ip:65001 for cam 1. For example 192.168.1.56:65001

that works at my place

Thank you, that did the trick, it was spot on, the tutorial attached helped show the way.

I can now stop pulling my hair out and let it grow back.

I've spent hours trawling the internet looking for an answer.

Thank you so much, I really appreciate your help.
