Hik-Connect Clarification about Hik-Connect and Hik-Partner Pro

I also have all package, but not Health Monitoring, Exception, Linkage Rule and Co-Branding.
Does this work without Authentication? I'm end-user, installer of my system, but not a proffesional installer. Should I authenticate?

I'd be tempted to leave well alone unless you want to start paying. They even charge me to add my logo to my customers apps!

@alexdel - regarding the VPN suggestion..

You may be able to set up a VPN server on your network depending on what router you currently have for your internet connection. My Unifi Dream Router has his facility and many other routers do also. A corresponding VPN client app can be set up on your mobile phone or laptop.

When away from home and needing to access your home network you start the VPN client to initiate the connection. After authentication, a tunnelled connection is created with the client device (your phone/laptop) assigned an IP address on your homes local network by the VPN server. All ongoing communication is sent encrypted through that tunnel to your home network. Effectively you are connected to your home network, just as though you were sat at home using the WiFi and can access your home devices (in this case your NVR) using their local IP addresses. So you could just use a web browser to configure your NVR without needing to port forward. I do this to access my Hubitat smart home hub when needed, as it is secured to prevent connection using port forwarding.

Don't confuse the above with VPN services provided online by the likes of Nord VPN, IPVanish etc. They are services that allow you to divert your connection through their servers around the world to hide your activity from your internet provider or to appear to be from a different location.
