Hi! I've just replaced my DS-2CD2385FWD-I with a DS-2CD2385G1-I

I was hoping for an improvement in quality due to Darkfighter technology.

I have attached captured stills that show an actual reduction in quality!

Even though both cameras have 2.8mm lens, the 2385G seems to be capturing a larger scene & I'm wondering whether the left hand side with the greater degree of ambient light might be affecting the darker right hand area.

Anybody with thoughts?

Drop the contrast down in the camera webpage from 50 to around 35. It'll make a big difference

I've cracked it! Turned Wide Dynamic Range ON set to 75

Never used it before & it doesn't work on my lesser cameras but wow what a difference on the 2385G!

You'd be better tweaking the contrast. You'll find having WDR on will help but will leave you with a washed out image during the day, it'll also create more visible noise. The Auto (as opposed to manual) WDR seems to be broken FYI. I've found that if you set WDR to Auto, it sets the WDR way too high even if the slider is at 0

Daytime pictures are perfect

WDR doesn't seem to work on my "lesser" cameras.

Maybe its the 2385G or beginners luck!
