Fault with HikvisionDS-2CD2342WD-1 4MP EXIR

Why can't someone invent a connector with a hinged flap that opens, you lay the cables into the relevant grooves, close the flap and put it into the crimper ? Do you think I should put a patent on that idea ? (I can't get the Smilies to open this morning)

Sounds like some risky business! :)

I disagree. I think my forward thinking would be a market leader with obviously a World-wide market. I am looking for selected investors and because you have been so helpful to me I would like to invite you aboard. I am going to insist that the minimum investment from anyone would have to be £100k.

ps. Is it just me or are the Smilies on this site unavailable ?

As you can see the Smilies are still available! :)
When I click on them all I get is the loading box.

Got it... just tried... same here... I haven't used those... I usually just type : ) or : ( , with no space in between. :) :(

:(O.K. So I am trying that :) or (: ( , :( , : ) or : ( , with no space in between.

EDIT. Couldn't see it in Preview but something is working obviously. I go onto another forum with an identical format and I get pages of Smilies.

UPDATE. The problem has finally been resolved. After more than strenuous demands from Mrs. Scooby that I do NOT go up the tower again I had to resort to enlisting the help of a professional. It transpired that he was able to test the cable from the NVR to what I called "there is what looks like a large bulge in the cable" in #32. It turned out that the "bulge" was in fact a join in the cable and the circuit from the NVR to the RJ45 input to the join was good. All he had to do was replace the join. I didn't think much of the join that he used because it was very similar to the old one i.e. not a waterproof join but he assured me that the black tape that he wrapped it in would keep any moisture out.
When he had done that the camera worked as it always has..
And so, finally, I would like to express my most sincere thanks to all who have been helping me with this pronlem, especially johnfitzy. If any of you want to know how to lay a hedge, shear a sheep, plough a field, or any other farm-type jobs, just ask. Thanks again - Scooby.

Glad you got that working @scooby73466 !!! :)
So am I @johnfitzy but through the help of this Forum, and especially your good self, I have learnt a lot about the system. Incidently, not only don't the Smilies not work for me but neither does the Preview option. I am using a 64 bit Windows 8.1 pc on this Forum but I have just bought a Windows 11 pc. I wonder if that would allow me to use those things ?

Yes, my guess is that will change something for the better!
I'll have a go next time I am playing on the new pc and let you know. I would love to stay with the old pc but I get a slight rumbling sound when I switch it on. It never lasts for more than a minute but something isn't right somewhere !
