Me again folks. Thank in advance to anyone who reads this as it might seem a lengthy explanation.
The issue I am about to explain is my main concern with m 7608m2 8p setup. I upgraded from the K2 8p because I wanted to replace some of my G0 4mp cameras with 8mp, because I had to throttle back some cameras for the NVR to give decent performance, wanted higher res and images on some cameras and because two of the cameras would not scroll on playback.
By scrolling I mean move your mouse along the timeline whilst at the same time holding down the left mouse button. This then generates a moving image that can go at any pace you choose i.e. as fast as you move the mouse along the timeline. Its quicker, easier and more usable than speeding up the playback by selecting one of the buttons on the timeline, especially when limiting the playback to 30 minutes segments because you can just move the mouse back and forwards to pick up what you are trying to find.
I have 7 cameras connected to the 7608m2 8P M series NVR via the POE ports.
2386g2-IU (8mp accusense)
2387g2H-LIU (8mp hybrid)
2387g2-LU (8mp colorvu)
2346g2-IU (4mp accusense darkfighter)
2365g1-I (6mp darkfighter)
2347g1-L (4mp colorvu)
2343g0-I (4mp standard)
NVR is operating on version 4..63.006 build 230526 (do not yet want to go to v5
0) and all cameras have the latest recommended Firmware installed.
Due to M Series capability I set up cameras at their "out of the box" resolutions, Frame Rate @ 20fps, Video Quality to Higher and made sure that the Max Bit Rates were higher than the recommended Max Bit Rate Range for each camera. I changed the camera apertures to 1/50 and NVR to continuous recording for all. I frames settings were noted at 50 in the NVR's Camera Parameter Settings menu. Decoding is set to H265 for all.
The Problem
The issue I am having is that not all playback footage will scroll and in trying to work out what is happening. I have noticed the following.
2343g0-I (4mp standard),
2365g1-I (6mp darkfighter),
2347g1-L (4mp colorvu).
These cameras have no issues at all. They scroll forward and back, fast and slow, at night and at day. They will scroll in single camera playback and in multiple camera playback if selected cameras include all of or two of these cameras.
2346g2-IU (4mp accusense darkfighter),
2386g2-IU (8mp accusense),
2387g2H-LIU (8mp hybrid),
2387g2-LU (8mp colorvu).
These have variable scrolling performance. Single camera scrolling is possible for night images whether these are in Colour or IR. They cannot scroll in multi-camera playback. Some scrolling is possible on the 2346G2 in low light conditions after it switches out of IR. Attempting daytime scrolling sometimes leads to playback inconsistent skipping of playback footage.
Bandwidth
Thinking this might be a bandwidth issue I lowered some settings and noted the max bandwidth usage on Live View for all cams. The max totals seemed to be within the NVRs capability but to be sure I changed all cams to HD format and their Frame Rates to 16FPS., therefore reducing the required bandwidth to well within the NVRs capability. No change.
HDD Performance
Reading on this forum in one post that having multiple cams on one HDD (Toshiba S300, 4TB) could make the HDD struggle, I reviewed HDD s.m.a.r.t data on the NVR. No errors reported that are above the allowed thresholds. HDD health check good.
Removing Some / All Cams Altogether
I disconnected the 3 cams that scrolled okay from the POE Ports and left the the four problematic cams to record footage for about an hour in the daytime at the reduced HD resolution and frame rate settings. When playing back that particular footage there was no improvement in scrolling of the problematic cams.
Even with no cams connected (I've put everything back on the K) the issue is the same. Recorded footage on the newer cams won't scroll properly. On the K, as you would expect because of its lesser capability, I get the same issues and with the same cams. Even at HD resolution, etc.
Conclusions
To be honest I am lost with this one and before taking drastic measures like starting again with everything at default settings I wondered if anyone has experienced this or can test their setup and see if you get the same issue as me.
What would be really good is if anyone has suggestions or even a solution.
What would be disappointing is that its normal for this to happen as scrolling is the most important playback capability that I want out of my NVR.
Thank you.

Conclusions
- Its not bandwidth.
- Its unlikely to be the HDD performance or failure though perhaps the only way to test this is get another one, run two or replace the current one entirely.
- Its only happening with the newer / higher capability cams but why would this be camera related when its the NVR recorded footage and not the direct cam footage that is being prepared and played by the NVR. Also the newer cams were set to a much lower resolution so any decoding the NVR has to do in order to playback and scroll footage should be fairly straightforward as its not using as much processing power to do it as it would with higher res' footage. Therefore if it was a processor related issue any reduction in overall workload resulting from lower resolutions should allow more footage to be scrolled.
