Hi all,

So I currently have a 10 camera Hikvision system and I record to two NAS boxes.

I have one NAS recording continuously and I also have Synology doing the recording on Motion detection only.

The problem I now have is that I want to upgrade my cameras to 8mp 12 camera system.

I also want to record at full quality and at the highest FPS as possible.

So questions are:

....is this possible on my current setup? or do I now need a good 'I' series NVR?

...and If I do move to a NVR ...can I still do the Motion Detection recording on the Synology as well?

Thanks

Probably, it will depend on which NAS. But the burden of 8MP cameras is much lower now that we use the h.265+ CODEC.

It depends, an -I NVR will certainly do it.
You may want to wait for the next series (EasyIP 4.0) with Accusense.

Yes

Thank you Phil..!

....is it true that you cannot record 8Mp cameras at 25fps?

Thanks

If the camera will produce 25fps, then you should be able to record it.
I would recommend that you use the h.265+ CODEC.

Not all 8MP cameras are capable of providing 25fps.
Check the specs and datasheets.
