Hi,
I have a mix of 7 Hikvision cameras. All IP connected all working faultlessly for a few years. All video is recorded on a QNAP NAS using QVR Pro. Recording uses available space on disk and then loops round. That's it. Nothing fancy.

However I would like to enable events so that I can quickly review them on the QVR. Smart events (if supported) and motion detection etc

However I am not sure I understand the best way to do this. Is this a function of the camera creating the event? If the camera creates the event do I need an NVR to correctly interpret the event? Or is this all done on the NVR (in my case QVR)? I realise a complete beginners question but some gentle guidance would be appreciated.
The QVR Pro is ok, but I am happy to install a dedicated machine with other software if you think best - I did have a Hikvision NVR but wasn't impressed with that either!!
I have plenty of bandwidth if a cloud solution works.

Many thanks
Paul
