I work in a Control Room and we never use basic event motion as they seem to false alarm a lot more than smart events. We simply use line crossing combined with intrusion events which works the best.

As a note an update for viewing NVRs/cameras remotely. If you forward port 80 it seems to allow one to view them on internet explorer Port 8000 also needs to be forwarded, this is primarily to see everything on IVM2-4200
