Hello I have changed my broadband provider and hence have a new router.
I am not able to connect my hikvision box to this new router.

My hik model is from the 7208 series.
In the network menu there is no WIFI option at the top. The box is connected to the router via a lan cable linked to a tp link small box which then communicats with the wifi router.

Can anyone advise what option I need to select? What do i need to type in the ipv4 server line etc etc?

thanks

Hi @rickb

What is the current IP address range of your recorder? (e.g. 192.168.1.xxx, 192.168.2.xxx, 192.168.5.xxx, etc...)

If you use Command Prompt on a Windows PC, can you please confirm if your Gateway address and PC IP address are in the same IP range as the recorder?

on the dvr i have three strings:

192.168.1.81
255.255.0
192.168.1.254

will get back to you re pc

pc stuff as follows:

Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : Home
IPv6 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 2a02:c7c:61cd:b800:1a4e:be75:9f7e:8835
IPv6 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : fd0f:9262:da75:0:b580:97da:7fc8:29ad
Temporary IPv6 Address. . . . . . : 2a02:c7c:61cd:b800:9d40:a989:7480:36e8
Temporary IPv6 Address. . . . . . : fd0f:9262:da75:0:d573:158c:9218:df6c
Link-local IPv6 Address . . . . . : fe80::c8fb:16bb:3b89:ddde%20
IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.4
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : fe80::b6ba:9dff:fef7:f701%20
192.168.0.1

So your new router has a different IP range to what you have set on the DVR (to match the old router).

On the DVR, change the IP settings you mention below to:

IP address: 192.168.0.81
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Default gateway: 192.168.0.1
on the dvr i have three strings:

192.168.1.81
255.255.0
192.168.1.254

You should then be able to log into the DVR again using the new IP address (192.168.0.81).
If that IP doesn't work, try changing the last segment of the IP to another number between 1 and 254, as it probably means '.81' is already taken by another device on the network.

Hi when you say 'you should then be able to log into the DVR again using the new IP address (192.168.0.81).' do you mean just linking the tp link router to my wifi and then opening the app on my phone?

Sorry - instead of the app, you can use an internet browser to log into the DVR and check the settings and video.
But, once the IP and gateway addresses have been changed on the NVR to match the new router, they should begin working in the app again automatically.
You may need to log out and back into the app to see it working again :)

No worries, glad it's sorted :)

The DHCP feature is just a way to get the NVR to automatically pick up the right gateway and an available IP from the router, so this doesn't need to be ticked unless you're struggling to find an unused IP address for it. It's the easy way to get the right addresses set, but also means you can't choose the NVR's IP address yourself.
