Hi,

I recently replaced two of my DS-2CD2087G2-LU with DS-2CD2T87G2-LSU/SL, shh don't tell the wife, she thinks it was a 'needed upgrade'.

I've noticed when watching Live View on my phone and PC anything with motion almost seems to jitter every few movements, like the camera can't focus on the speed they're moving at, I also noticed that if I zoom in onto someone's face it's just pixelated.

Settings on the camera are:

Cam1.png

I've tried smoothing at 1 and it's still the same.

Image Settings:

Brightness: 50
Contrast: 35
Saturation: 50
Sharpness: 50

Exposure:

Iris Mode: Fixed
Anti Banding: Off
Exposure Time: 1/50 (I've tried 1/100 and appears the same)

Backlight Settings:

BLC Area: Off
WDR: Off
HLC: Off

White Balance: AWB1

Image Enhancement:

Digital Noise Reduction: Normal
Noise Reduction Level: 50
Defog Mode: Off

Edit: both camera and NVR are running latest firmware

I thought it could be my NVR but I've checked directly on the camera and I'm seeing the exact same thing.

Any help much appreciated :)

Your settings will be making the bit rate burst well above what you have set.

Set the I frame back to 20 (which equates to 1 I frame per second)
Drop the quality to Higher

If you still have issues after that, either drop the quality to Medium or increase the bit rate to 10,240

PS Having the smoothing setting at 1 (clear) also seems to ramp up the size of the I frame causing the bit rate to spike so it's better left at 50.

Thanks, will test these out.

Interesting to note, I watched a few moving objects yesterday and seen it was jittery but on playback it was smooth.

Is there a difference in image quality?
Since you've tried both cameras, which model would you recommend?

I can't really see any difference in quality truth be told. Both solid options.
