HIKVision NVR with IPCam - Computing correct IPCam to match NVR

Hi

I have checked that HIKVision NVR has different incoming bandwidth and based on how I understand it, we need to know the incoming bandwidth in order to properly select a camera that will not consume bandwidth that is greater than the NVR's capacity.
Please correct me if my understanding is incorrect. Let us take DS-7104NI as an example (4-port NVR). Its incoming bandwidth is 25Mbps and it has 4-ports
25 / 4 = 6.25

So this means each port's maximum IPCam resolution is only up to 6.25 Mb
Is there a calculator or a computation that HIK installers use that we can follow or perhaps a guide that we can use in order to properly know how many and what is the maximum IPCam resolution we can bundle with the HIK NVR?

Thanks.

Hi Kieran.

I just wanted to make sure. If incoming bandwidth is @ 25 Mbps for a 4-port NVR, this means as long as the total of my IPCam will not exceed the 24 Mbps, this is ok.

Please confirm, Thanks.

That's correct, yes. I wouldn't design a system in which you cut it so close to the maximum though - listed maximum incoming bandwidth might not always be what it can provide in practise.
