Line crossing and general alert issue

Hi all, I’m new here and relatively new to the camera world. I’m after some assistance with my Hikvision camera, apologies for the ramble.

I have a DS-2CD2T46G2-2I camera covering my entrance gate. The gate is located maybe 60m-70m from my house.

I run the camera via poe injector and storage via onboard SD card. My issue is line crossing / motion detection failing to trigger alerts. I have tried everything I can think of alongside google to try and resolve.
So far, I have

Checked all settings and notifications etc are enabled and alert / recording is set for 24/7, notify surveillance centre etc.
Sensitively tried at every level from 50-100 to test if it was that.
I've tried running the camera via NVR in case the onboard couldn't handle the smart events. No difference.
Factory reset of all settings multiple times.
Brought camera indoors and connected via known good short cable 1m . 2 red lights below lens light up, powered no issue.
Installed an injector at the gates to power the camera via short cable 8mto hopefully eliminate if any power drop over the distance from the house.

When I power up the camera initially I get maybe a couple of alerts when line is crossed or motion detected via Hikconnect app (so I know the process works) but then the camera then seems stop even noticing the motion let alone sending alerts.

I’ve tried using intrusion detection and region entrance/ exit too but no difference.
Interestingly absolutely no alerts when it’s dark. The image is crystal clear so it’s not the camera is missing the movement due to image quality. No loss of image at night and power via injector less then 8m away.

Are there any known issue with this camera, as I feel like I'm banging my head against a wall, if not I welcome recommendations for a replacement camera model or manufacturer that may do what I need consistently.

TIA
Jim

I dont have the answer but can share in your pain - I have a G2 turret camera and both line crossing and intrusion detection seem very poor at night vs day time. Also tried lots of different settings but nothing improves. General person detection also does not kick in at night either.

Thing is you need it to work at night as that is when someone might jump into your garden lol!

I suspect some angles / conditions just trip up the algorithm / accusense tech.

I have picked up a G3 recently so will give this a go to see if the accusense / AI is any better - will report back.

OK update in - I have installed my G3 - 2CD2347G3 to replace my 2CD2387G2.

G3 worked lol!

Made a vid so you can see how line crossing and perimeter completely failed at night on my G2 (lines dont go red when crossing). But on the G3 - not only is the picture quality a lot better the line crossing actually works! I did have to update the software of the G3 to the latest though as before that it was inconsistent.

Time to wake the G2 on eBay lol and replace my other G2’s with G3’s lol

Vid - of quality and line crossing improvement :

G2 compared to g3 had hard times working on targets that were not vertial. This angle was hard on model dataset G2 had/have
Yes, I was going to comment that the angle is out. Personally, when installing cameras I always make whatever is in the centre of the field of view, vertical. On the example shown the camera has been installed so that the right hand edge of the view is vertical (the camera should be turned so that the 'bend' in the wall or lamppost on the opposite side of the street is vertical to balance the distortion)

Great feedback and makes sense now why my other G2’s installed with a more traditional / vertical view work just fine with line crossing. I did not give much thought to my positioning of the camera other than trying maximise as much of my garden as possible and not too much brick wall lol. Sounds like i could have got my G2 to work OK if i just repositioned it lol. That said the 4mp G3 night view is way better than my G2 (surprised me as most reviews did not see much difference).
