Locally vs China sourced cameras

Hey team,

I'm about to purchase a set of new cameras for a new house. Previous set was 2x DS-2CD2386G2-ISU/SL and 2x DS-2CD2347G2-LU which were great 6 years ago. First foray into the world of CCTV and the Hikvision were pretty flawless, especially initially contemplating a Eufy setup.

I've looked into a local supplier and they've given an option between a locally sourced (NZ) vs China sourced. The savings for a China sourced set

4x DS-2CD2387G3-LIS2UY/SL-2.8MM and 1x DS-7616NI-M2/16P (4TB) is ~$800NZD cheaper. Though I'll probably opt for 2x 4MPs and 2x 8MPs as we have ambient street lighting that may help the 8MPs at night.

Any flags to consider? Both options have 3 year warranty, the China sourced has 3 year warranty plus warranty from the licensed supplier.

Cheers

Hi @Madgame87

This is a very odd offer from your supplier.

When they say "an option between a locally sourced (NZ) vs China sourced", do they mean the same Hikvision products from either NZ stock or Chinese Stock?

Or is the locally sourced NZ option a completely different system/brand of cameras?

My recommendation is to buy Hikvision iDS-2CD5387G2/V-XS. / iDS-2CD5347G2/V-XS.I have two DS-2CD2347G3 cameras and one DS-2CD2387G3 camera.
I recently purchased and installed the iDS-2CD5347G2/V-XS camera. This smart camera has no false alarms and the image quality is excellent.
My advice is to think about this camera model.
They are all Chinese cameras.
