M series software questions (moving to the M side)

Hello after many years using trusted 7716NI-I4 and also my main IDS7716NXI-I4/16P/16S (B) I’ve decided to future proof myself and move to the dark side AKA M series as I’m upset after i got my IDS unit they made a different version and made mine EOL within months. Yes I’ve read the threads of how bad the software is, you cannot add villa stations, scroll wheel is backwards Bla Bla, but what is a weekend without loosing yourself down a rabbit hole for 2 days trying to get the system to work?

I’m now staring at my new DS7732NI-M4/16P, its out of the box software is 4.61.410 221020 so not even version 5 yet, i’ve added some more details so you can see my cameras on the screen shot below which are broadly

1x 2385 so no smart events
Some 2386’s G3’s (so annoyed they changed after I bought them)
Some 2387’s G5’s
4 Line ANPR
7 line ANPR i have face setup on the at the end of the drive and works perfectly with the ANPR feature and reports to my current IDS7716NXI-I4/16P/16S
Some Villa 6113 (B)’s
K1T341AM face recognition door station

Question 1 So in the version 7732NI-M4 version 4.61.410 it has (as the screen shots) a drop down menu for Human, Vehicle, and face recognition in the search options which (face certainly I was surprised to see as i didn’t think M series could do face) my question is, as i upgrade does any of these 3 disappear from the search ability in the main GUI, as all 3 are important to me.

Question 2 what versions should i go upto on the new unit in the version 5? I see a new version recently 5.4.020 but not many comments…

Question 3 any Certain order to go from software version 4-5 I understand the following are available.

4.61.410 current on the system
4.61.420
4.63.06
4.63.025
5.3.000
5.3.010
5.4.020
5.4.050 (NOT YET RELEASED)

Question 4 i use a relay output from the current NVR that is triggered by line crossing from an 2385, I’m sure there will be no issue but has there been any issue with relays and alarm outputs for smart events?

Answer 1 - The options in the search boxes will be there in the new firmware. What's actually usable is more to do with teh cameras capabilities and setup. IE you can't do search for faces unless you've a camera setup for face capture. You've an NI not an NXI so have no on NVR processing.

Question 2 what versions should i go upto on the new unit in the version 5? I see a new version recently 5.4.020 but not many comments…

Answer 2 - There's loads of comments most of them whingeing by me as Hikvision currently appear to be incapable of releasing camera or NVR firmware that doesn't break something. That version (5.04.020) is about as useful as a chocolate fireguard. Don't update beyond 5.03.010 to avoid the issues (no AcuSense markers in video locally or Hik-Connect)

Question 3 any Certain order to go from software version 4-5 I understand the following are available.

4.63.06 - THIS ONE FIRST
4.63.025
5.3.000 - THIS ONE SECOND (delete browser history once update complete)
5.3.010 - THIS ONE LAST

5.4.050 (NOT YET RELEASED) WHEN IT IS RELEASED BEST WAIT UNTIL I'VE COMMENTED ON WHETHER WHAT I REPORTED BROKEN IS FIXED

Answer 4 - no issues with output linkage

Answer 5 - Yeah - you're really going to hate version 5 UI. It's designed to make something simple very difficult.

Thanks for the comments, I actually have a second M series (too large to install at home), after writing the post and going out for a bit, I plugged it in just to see what version was on it, anyway it’s the 5.4.020 version, it doesn’t have face recognition or a search for it my other M has on version 4, thinking of rolling that one larger one back to 5.3.010 as a test bed if people think it won’t brick it.

Just looking to the response to question 1, the 7 line ANPR is face enabled and works well on my current unit.

It'll definitely have the same search - you can find everything in file management.

Unfortunately if you roll back it'll deactivate the NVR and restore all settings other than IP address (as I found out the other week)

Thanks. I’ll be rolling back tomorrow, waste a full day I think, lost most of this morning and evening.

What threw me is, when you setup or search “face detection” in version 5 it’s actually called "target detection” it confused me so could find it, although when they show in the event centre, the event centre, it calls it ‘face detection"

Separately I’ve never seen HikConnect searching, I’m possibly excited to see something everyone else has had for a long time, concerning searching events in Hikconnect ive noticed, I’ve played with a few units all with the same camera setup on the same network, and found.

The DS7716NXI-I4/16P/16S V4.50.000 210125 had no VCA set in the NVR, it was enabled and no change after a soak test, VCA events were not searchable in Hik-Connect

The DS7732NI-M4/16P V4.61.410 221020 had no VCA set in the NVR, it was enabled and no change after a soak test, VCA events were not searchable in Hik-Connect

The DS96128NI-M16/R V5.04.020 241106 had no VCA set in the NVR, and they were all showing in Hikconnect and searchable (is it only later software this works on? And I’m really behind the times?) It was enabled and no change after a soak test (I think) I would add my 4 line ANPR works fine on searches on HikConnect, my 7 line doesn’t bring anything up ANPR wise, either in the GUI or HikConnect (possible some more testing on this required)

As for version 5, there’s jazzy bits I like, I’ve always hated IVMS especially the event section and it’s now what version 5 even centre looks to me arhhhhh.

Yes it can be confusing. Just select the default group in search then click through the options one at a time to see under what 'term' your events are named.

The ability to filter in Hik-Connect started at firmware versions 4.71.x onward; hence the I series doesn't have it as updates stopped at 4.61.030, whereas the original K2 has the capability as the latest firmware is 4.74.205. It's not a VCA search, it just allows you to filter events from compatible AcuSense cameras to Human, Vehicle and also show Events

I hate it I hate it I hate it!

6 hours all I’ve done is got all my cameras loaded and recording. Nothing else, no events and Hik-Connect notifications does work.

Don’t start me with no option for email anywhere, 30 minutes looking, gave up, then I find as an option within the Event/Configuration/then tab next to send email to setup……. I liked where it was under network.

Then 60 minutes more lost getting gmail to give a third party password, no option to pick it in anywhere in google accounts, googles videos no help either all the pages have changed, the support page here on USEIP has a link to a page I couldn’t find anywhere else, so that’s sorted.

RSTP my 6113 Villas, I don’t know I had to do the whole RSTP://adminassword192.168.0…….. but I just thought you hit Hikvision RSTP, so I had to make custom paths. Then there’s a massive delay for some reason loading so I thought they didn’t work and kept changing things, luckily someone rang to complain about something and then I went back and they had gone from offline to online, I mean several minutes…. Then they wouldn’t appear in the Live View Config page so I thought could add them…… arrrrrrrrrrr after a massive delay they end up there however.

So now with nothing really setup, searches of things I don’t want seam to work, so should when I can setup, I have two distinct problems

Problem 1 Hik-Connect disables notification no matter how I click and mess and save, anyone else have this or know a work around, all fine on my other unit.

Problem 2 When on Chrome, or Edge, or IPad I get the stream is encrypted message, it’s setup in the NVR, what am I doing wrong??

I had it turned on, I turned it off, it made no difference, I went onto the NVR and turned it off there also, it works, how bizarre.

Just need to work out why when I enable notifications and go back it immediately disables them.

Make sure that "Adaptive Bitrate Streaming" is turned off also... it changes your cameras sub-stream settings otherwise (unless you want that).

Did you find "Enable Virtual Host"... that took me a while when I upgraded to NVR5.0:

Just need to work out why when I enable notifications and go back it immediately disables them.

I'll think about this but @JB1970 probably knows right off the top of his head

Sorry I wasn’t clear in my first response, your idea got me where I needed to be, I turned it off like yours, and no change, I turned it off on the units itself as well in a seperate setting and it worked, thanks.

I think I see... don't go to Home/NVR Settings "the three dots"/Notification... instead go to Notifications/"the three dots in the upper right corner"/Settings and you will see "Device Notifications" on/off box.

If that's not clear let me know...

I think I understood what you were saying however I’ve 3 options, I’ve put an arrow on each, I turned any combination or all on, and you go to the next and they’ve turned off again
