Online camera via POE but no live view via NVR?

Hi guys,

I've recently purchased some Hikvision stuff and I've spent countless hours today trying to make it work...unsuccessfully.
I'm attaching two screen shots of my equipment (camera + NVR).

I keep changing the IP address of the camera to 192.168.1.19 and it keeps reverting to 192.168.254.5

When the cam is connected to the PPOE > router, all is fine but when the cam is powered by the NVR, I can't see the camera (even when changing the IP address via SADP)
I've tried a lot (yeah I mean a lot) of different settings and know I keep missing something, but what.

Thanks a million or your input.

I've now changed the cam to 92.168.1.19, I can see the live view in the Hikvision camera config page but in the NVR config page, my camera is still 192.168.254.5 and disconnected.
The camera's name is JARDIN (which means Garden)

Also I have IPCamera 01, 02 and 03 which I can delete in the camera management section.

Hi @hemdale

Can I check if you have tried double-clicking the camera in the live view device list?

Hi Dan,

Thanks for your message. Double clicking does nothing. I just have the following message in the lower right corner saying "failing to display live view"

Thanks @hemdale

Are you using a PC or Mac? Which browser are you using to access the NVR?

Hi Dan,

I'm on a Mac using OS 12.6. My browser is called Brave but I've also tried Chrome without any success...

Is the camera currently plugged into the PoE ports on the NVR and still set to the 192.168.1.19 IP address you mentioned above?

I've just tried Apple Safari but still the same problem. Would you like me to send you some screen shots of the current settings ?
My biggest concern is that the camera is not even connected to the NVR but directly to the router. If I connect the cam to the NVR, I can no longer access the camera...

Hi Dan,

I'm changing the config as we speak and connecting the cam to the PoE port of the NVR. Thanks a million for your help and patience.

Ok the cam is directly connected to a PoE port on the NVR.
The link http://192.168.1.19/doc/page/config.asp cannot access the camera any longer.

And now the garden camera is "grayed" in the list.

Also this is what IVMS 4200 is giving me. But now the cam is connected to the NVR, the app HikConnect on my iPhone says the camera is offline...and there is a LOCAL icon which is grayed.

When the camera is connected directly to the PoE ports of the NVR it needs to use the NVRs subnet IP range (192.168.254.xxx) and when connected to this IP range the cameras are not visible on your local network (which is why you can't see it is SADP).

To straighten everything out we would recommend hard resetting the camera and then plugging the camera straight into the PoE ports on the NVR, the camera will then be activated with the NVR's password and assigned a subnet IP address (like the 192.168.254.5 it was using previously).
